Army Barracks of Ireland
This extensive project aims to uncover the story of the historic barracks network in Ireland by identifying all permanent barracks that existed between 1690 and 1921–22. Defence Heritage Platform
The Defence Heritage Record has its origins in a project set up in 1997 to record wartime sites. A new project commenced in 2020 to survey all known defence sites on Northern Ireland, with over 4500 sites identified. They can be viewed on their interactive map.
Ministry of Defence service records project
The Ministry of Defence (MOD) has begun the transfer of ten million personnel service records to The National Archives for permanent preservation. The records cover personnel records where the individual has a date of birth before or up to 1 January 1939.
