Benevolent Fund
HOW DOES YOUR MONEY HELP?
The Charity provides approximately £200,000 worth of assistance each year to serving and retired members of the Regiment and dependents who are in need or in serious difficulties.
This includes assisting veterans who served in WW2, Korea, Northern Ireland, the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan. Through the generosity of donors the Trustees have been able to provide support in many ways, including;
- Education grants to the daughter of a Royal Irish soldier killed by terrorists, which allowed her to enhance her qualifications and secure employment.
- Paying for modifications to the house of a veteran maimed in a terrorist attack whilst serving.
- Buying a hand propelled tricycle for a veteran wounded in Afghanistan.
- Assisting veterans in securing additional vocational qualifications so that they can find civilian employment after leaving the army.
- Providing support to the families of Royal Irish soldiers killed or who died of natural causes.
- Improving the Community Centre facilities for the families of those serving in the 1st Battalion.
Without your continued support this work could not carry on and for that we are hugely grateful, please continue to help—even a small donation goes a long way.
